Howard University has paid tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman by renaming its Fine Arts building the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts.
A proud alumnus of the Class of 2000, Boseman’s legacy as an actor, educator, and philanthropist continues to resonate far beyond the walls of the university that helped shape him.
Renowned for his powerful and transformative performances—most notably as the iconic Black Panther in the Marvel franchise—Boseman used his platform not for self-glorification, but to uplift, inspire, and empower others. His work redefined representation on screen and restored dignity, depth, and heroism to Black narratives in global cinema.

Beyond Hollywood, Chadwick Boseman remained deeply committed to education and the arts, consistently giving back to institutions and young creatives who followed in his footsteps. His belief in knowledge as a tool for liberation and artistic expression as a force for change left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and academic communities.
This dedication by Howard University stands as a fitting tribute to an artist whose life, values, and work continue to inspire future generations of creators, scholars, and leaders.
Chadwick Boseman’s light endures.
Not only on screen—but in classrooms, studios, and dreams yet to be realized. 🙌🏾
